Getting settled in
When your download is ready, here’s how to make Hearth your own.

Make a little space.
Download the disk image, open it, and drag Hearth into your Applications folder.

Keep your AI close.
Open Hearth. In Settings, install the search and transcription models. Connect a local AI model for chat and document summaries.

Bring something along.
Import your first file or folder into Library. Ask a question, and make yourself at home.
Model downloads need an internet connection and additional disk space. The app targets macOS 13+, with testing focused on Apple Silicon and macOS 15.5. For fully local AI, keep both chat and summaries connected to local models.

Does my information stay on my computer?
Your library, conversations, and transcripts live on your desktop. Document conversion, search embeddings, and meeting transcription run locally after their models are installed. To keep AI processing on your machine too, use local models for both chat and document summaries. Optional cloud providers send the content needed for a request to the provider you choose.
What can I bring into Hearth?
Your PDFs, documents, text files, spreadsheets, presentations, web-page files, and images. Supported formats include DOCX, XLSX, PPTX, HTML, PNG, JPEG, and TIFF. Import individual files or folders; Hearth keeps a snapshot of the original. New chats and completed meeting transcripts join your library too. Each imported file can be up to 256 MB.
Do I have to organize everything first?
No perfect folders or elaborate system required. Bring your files in as they are. Search for a phrase, ask about a topic, or follow an answer back to its source. Start with one thing, and let your library grow with you.
What’s here today, and what’s next?
Hearth brings together your document library, file-grounded chat, and local meeting transcription. Dedicated tasks and calendar integrations are planned. The app is being developed and tested first on Apple Silicon Macs; Windows and Linux downloads are not available here yet.
